Proudly
declaring "Established 1846" on its cover, Town & Country
is one of the oldest magazines still being published. It has also regressed
into a fluffy lifestyle magazine featuring hot, rich white women on its
covers. Well, somebody's got to do it.Right?
Exploiting
the hot celebs formula to its fullest, the modern Vanity Fair's design
is but a shadow of its remarkable past. From Italian Futurist artist Fortunato
Depero's witty view of cigarette smoking, to wet T-shirts worn by former TV
hunks who formerly dated Julia Roberts
what a shame. But it does sell
ads.
Yes,
it was once fashionable to use surrealist art by Miguel Covarrubias on the cover
of the world's leading fashion magazine. Now, of course, fashion demands bra-less
babes "roughing it" in the outback. But her hair still looks great,
and that's what counts.
