Proudly declaring "Established 1846" on its cover, Town & Country is one of the oldest magazines still being published. It has also regressed into a fluffy lifestyle magazine featuring hot, rich white women on its covers. Well, somebody's got to do it.Right?
Exploiting the hot celebs formula to its fullest, the modern Vanity Fair's design is but a shadow of its remarkable past. From Italian Futurist artist Fortunato Depero's witty view of cigarette smoking, to wet T-shirts worn by former TV hunks who formerly dated Julia Roberts… what a shame. But it does sell ads.
Yes, it was once fashionable to use surrealist art by Miguel Covarrubias on the cover of the world's leading fashion magazine. Now, of course, fashion demands bra-less babes "roughing it" in the outback. But her hair still looks great, and that's what counts.
